For the Cantonese population, the area beween Armenian Street extending towards the Prangin Ditch (Prangin Road today) constituted the 'Hokkien Street 福建街' or Fuk Kin Kai, because most of the shopkeepers in this part of town are from the Hokkien community, as opposed to the other areas where trade was dominated by the Cantonese.
