5 August, 1867: Canons fired from the Minaret

Simon Soon

Around 10am, Vapoo Merican Noordin saw from his window a crowd running to and fro in the Street, armed. He then reported hearing  what sounded like a cannon, and estimated that it would've been fired from the minaret of the Malay Mosque. Firing of cannon continued on 6 August.
